Life, and death

Monday, 18th July

The slave and I drove to the cemetery, it is the other side of Stockholm, an area he has never been to. It is just a suburb, with lots of detached houses. I hardly remember it. We laid some flowers at the grave. We were leaving, when my father came onto the cemetery. At first I wanted to pretend I had not seen him, but then he saw me, and I think he wanted to flee as well. He could have told me he is in Sweden! He is here on a business trip and had some time spare. We went to a local café, the slave suggested he can go for walk, I asked him to stay. My father was ok that I am releasing the grave.

We did polite small talk, my father asked the slave about his home town, how he liked Sweden etc.

My father had difficulties speaking Swedish, so we switched to English.

We did some shopping and in the afternoon I did some gardening. I phoned my aunt and told her about my day. She does not keep much in contact with my father, and he is her brother!

Monday, 25th July

Oh, by the way, the work at the town house is all finished without any problems. The Germans decamped for the week, Per had to let the workmen in, and had a snoop around. He said it looks as if no-one is living there, but then there was evidence of them there, too. He says they give him the creeps.

Pride starts on Wednesday, with the parade on Saturday, and a party in the park Sunday. We will have our stall Wednesday, Thursday, Friday between 10am and 6pm. There are events in the evenings, like lectures and smaller parties. Our visitors will arrive Friday early afternoon and leave Sunday. The slave will do some hours Wed and Thu. I am working all those days, I am off today and tomorrow.
