The day after

Monday, 19th December

Just after I told Ben that we are looking after Django, I had a call from the chief of medicine, can I come to work? I thought there were insurance hoops to go through, he said in a case like this, they have cover, as an ex member of staff, and as I had worked there during the summer, it was covered.

Of course I agreed, I had seen the accident on TV after Torben had called.

It was organised chaos and it was good to be part of it. We doctors have a very black humour.

I stayed at the hospital all night, I managed to get some sleep, and then attended 2 operations today.

Ben, as ever, has been brilliant, brought me a change of clothes and some cake for everyone. Cake is usually to celebrate, but it is good nourishment during stress, easy to eat, it gives you an instant sugar boost and makes you feel good. It was very appreciated.

Django stayed with us until this afternoon, Stine worked until the early hours, and Torben all night as well. At least they did not have to worry about their dog, and Ben was happy.

Ben had run me a bath, he had felt again I was on my way home. While I washed the hospital off, he made something to eat. I am very tired, but am trying to stay awake a bit longer, as not to ruin my pattern.

Ben is studying, again, his exam is on Thursday. He will ask me to correct it, if I am up to it.
